“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family,” Harry and Meghan said in a statement Friday obtained by ITK. The pair said their hope was that Kate, who’s married to Harry’s brother, Prince William, is able to recover “privately and in peace.”

The statement came hours after 42-year-old Kate announced in a video posted on social media that she had been diagnosed with cancer following abdominal surgery in January.

“It’s been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” Kate said.

The medical update followed weeks of intense press coverage and speculation about Kate’s health and extended absence from public appearances following the surgery, which had been announced by Kensington Palace.

Harry and Meghan’s relationship with much of the British royal family has appeared strained following last year’s release of his tell-all memoir “Spare.” The couple stepped down as full-time working members of the royal family and moved to California in 2020, later saying that racism played a role in their decision to step back from their senior positions.

King Charles III, who Buckingham Palace said last month had also been diagnosed with cancer following a procedure for an enlarged prostate, shared a message for Kate, saying he was “so proud” of his daughter-in-law for her “courage in speaking as she did.”

“Both Their Majesties will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time,” a statement from Buckingham Palace said, according to multiple news reports.

In a recorded video message, Princess Kate addressed the public directly after months of rumors about her condition. Kate, 42, was admitted to the London Clinic for abdominal surgery in January. Since then, she has largely been out of the public eye.

At the time of the surgery, Kate said Friday, her condition was thought to be non-cancerous, but tests after the fact revealed cancer cells were present.

"My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," she said in the released video.

Kate said she needed time to recovery from the surgery, start cancer treatment, and talk to her children about her condition.

"It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that's appropriate for them and to reassure them that I'm going to be OK," she said. "We hope that you'll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment."

She also thanked the public for their support and understanding.

The news is another shock for the royal family since the announcement last month that King Charles III was being treated for an unspecified type of cancer that was caught while undergoing a procedure for a benign enlarged prostate.

Charles, 75, has withdrawn from public duties while he has cancer treatment, though he's appeared frequently in photos carrying on meetings with government officials and dignitaries and was even seen going to church.

Kate, on the other hand, had been out of view, leading to weeks of speculation and gossip. Attempts to put rumors to bed by releasing a photo of her on Mother's Day in the U.K. surrounded by her three smiling children backfired when The Associated Press and other news agencies retracted the image because it had been manipulated.

Kate issued a statement the next day acknowledging she liked to “experiment with editing” and apologizing for “any confusion” the photo had caused.

The former Kate Middleton, who married William in a fairy-tale wedding in 2011, has boosted the popularity and appeal of the British monarchy worldwide more than any royal since Princess Diana.

The princess is the oldest of three children brought up in a well-to-do neighborhood in Berkshire, west of London. The Middletons have no aristocratic background, and the British press often referred to Kate as a “commoner” marrying into royalty.

Kate attended the private girls’ school Marlborough College and then University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where she met William around 2001. They were friends and housemates at first, then their relationship came to be in the public eye when they were pictured together on a skiing holiday in Switzerland in 2004.

Kate graduated in 2005 with a degree in art history and a budding relationship with the prince.

The iconic museum’s circular architecture featured projections with the phrases “This ain’t a country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé' album,” alongside the album’s title and release date.

Multiple New York City museums were plastered with advertisements for the album, including the Whitney Museum, the New Museum and the Museum of Art and Design. 

In a statement to ARTNews, the Guggenheim acknowledged that the projections were without its knowledge or consent.

The museum “was not informed about and did not authorize this activation,” a spokesperson said. “However, we invite the public—including Beyoncé and her devoted fans—to visit the museum May 16–20 when we present projections by artist Jenny Holzer on the facade of our iconic building to celebrate the opening of her major exhibition.” 

The 32-time Grammy award-winner’s much-anticipated country record is set to hit streaming platforms next week.

Projections at the other three museums also included the album cover, Beyoncé riding horseback in a rodeo outfit.

The Guggenheim acknowledged the projections in an Instagram story post early Thursday, adding a bee emoji to a fan's post about them. The fan speculated that the projection was connected to the museum’s ongoing display titled “Going Dark,” which centers on Black artists.

iHeartMedia announced Queen Bey will receive the iconic Innovator Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

"Few artists in the course of history have taken creative risks, successfully transformed their music and influenced pop culture on the level that Beyoncé has," the media giant said in a statement on Thursday. "Throughout the years, the global cultural icon has created music that has topped the charts across multiple formats, while also architecting groundbreaking tours, including last year’s Renaissance World Tour - the highest-grossing tour in history for both an R&B artist and a Black female artist."

iHeartMedia also noted that the artist's recent hit "Texas Hold 'Em" "is officially the first song in music history to simultaneously chart across US Pop, Hot AC, AC, Country, Rhythmic, Hip Hop, R&B and Triple A radio formats."

The Houston, Texas native made history in February by becoming the first Black woman to top Billboard's country music chart.

"Beyond creating art that has inspired the world, over the last decade Beyoncé’s passion for philanthropy and giving back with her BeyGOOD Foundation has helped communities around the world on a wide range of issues from disaster relief and water and housing scarcity to supporting young entrepreneurs and career development," the release continued. The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards will be hosted by Ludacris and will include performances by Justin Timberlake, Green Day, TLC, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Tate McRae.

Yes, the "Cuff It" singer is expected to attend the ceremony, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Another major award to be given out that night is the 2024 iHeartRadio Icon Award, which will be awarded to Cher.

iHeartRadio Music Awards will air on April 1 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fox.

Walsh died from cardiac arrest on Tuesday at a hospital in St. Albans, Vermont, his longtime manager Sandy Joseph said.

The ham-faced, heavyset Walsh often played good old boys with bad intentions, as he did in one of his rare leading roles as a crooked Texas private detective in the Coen brothers’ first film, the 1984 neo-noir “Blood Simple.”

Joel and Ethan Coen said they wrote the part for Walsh, who would win the first Film Independent Spirit Award for best male lead for the role.

Critics and film geeks relished the moments when he showed up on screen.

Roger Ebert once observed that “no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad.”

Walsh played a crazed sniper in the 1979 Steve Martin comedy “The Jerk” and a prostate-examining doctor in the 1985 Chevy Chase vehicle “Fletch.”

In 1982's gritty, “Blade Runner,” a film he said was grueling and difficult to make with perfectionist director Ridley Scott, Walsh plays a hard-nosed police captain who pulls Harrison Ford from retirement to hunt down cyborgs.

Born Michael Emmet Walsh, his characters led people to believe he was from the American South, but he could hardly have been from any further north.

Walsh was raised on Lake Champlain in Swanton, Vermont, just a few miles from the U.S.-Canadian border, where his grandfather, father and brother worked as customs officers.

He went to a tiny local high school with a graduating class of 13, then to Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

He acted exclusively on the stage, with no intention of doing otherwise, for a decade, working in summer stock and repertory companies.

Walsh slowly started making film appearances in 1969 with a bit role in “Alice’s Restaurant,” and did not start playing prominent roles until nearly a decade after that when he was in his 40s, getting his breakthrough with 1978’s “Straight Time,” in which he played Dustin Hoffman's smug, boorish parole officer.

Walsh was shooting “Silkwood” with Meryl Streep in Dallas in the autumn of 1982 when he got the offer for “Blood Simple” from the Coen brothers, then-aspiring filmmakers who had seen and loved him in “Straight Time.”

“My agent called with a script written by some kids for a low-budget movie,” Walsh told The Guardian in 2017. “It was a Sydney Greenstreet kind of role, with a Panama suit and the hat. I thought it was kinda fun and interesting. They were 100 miles away in Austin, so I went down there early one day before shooting.”

Walsh said the filmmakers didn't even have enough money left to fly him to New York for the opening, but he would be stunned that first-time filmmakers had produced something so good.

“I saw it three or four days later when it opened in LA, and I was, like: Wow!" he said. "Suddenly my price went up five times. I was the guy everybody wanted.”

In the film, he plays Loren Visser, a detective asked to trail a man’s wife, then is paid to kill her and her lover.

Visser also acts as narrator, and the opening monologue, delivered in a Texas drawl, includes some of Walsh's most memorable lines.

“Now, in Russia they got it mapped out so that everyone pulls for everyone else. That’s the theory, anyway," Visser says. “But what I know about is Texas. And down here, you’re on your own.”

He was still working into his late 80s, making recent appearances on the TV series “The Righteous Gemstones” and “American Gigolo.”

His more than 100 film credits included director Rian Johnson’s 2019 family murder mystery, “Knives Out" and director Mario Van Peebles' Western “Outlaw Posse,” released this year.

Johnson was among those paying tribute to Walsh on social media.

“Emmet came to set with 2 things: a copy of his credits, which was a small-type single spaced double column list of modern classics that filled a whole page, & two-dollar bills which he passed out to the entire crew," Johnson tweeted. “'Don’t spend it and you’ll never be broke.' Absolute legend.”

Strangely enough, its lack of renown is why it warrants a remake — and why so much of "Road House" (2024), which premieres on Prime Video on Thursday, succeeds.

For his "reimagining" of the story, director Doug Liman ("Mr. and Mrs. Smith," "Edge of Tomorrow") keeps most threads from the original film while altering some of what doesn't work in the campy neo-Western.

For starters, Liman's film relocates the story from small-town Missouri to the Florida Keys, an aesthetic choice that feels in line with the 80s-ness of the original (there's also something a little "Miami Vice" about it) while opening up new location-specific possibilities, including speedboat chases, yacht shootouts, and one hungry crocodile.

When we meet former UFC fighter Dalton (Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal), he's no longer fighting professionally and is flirting with the idea of ending of his life. This might seem heavier than you're expecting but Dalton's brief low moment is well-calibrated. Swayze's Dalton was also haunted by his past mistakes but that film's lighter atmosphere isn't conducive to too much emotionality. Since Liman's film, with a script by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, streamlines some of the original "Road House" campiness, there's some atmospheric wiggle room for Gyllenhaal's Dalton to show us what he's feeling and to sit in it.

Dalton's fortune is changed, however, after he's scouted to become the bouncer at The Road House, a troubled tropic-themed watering hole where live bands perform behind cages for their own safety. In Herrington's movie, patron rowdiness is dialed up to 100% — which is both fun to watch and also gives that film a certain unreality that makes some of its script shortcomings passable. But Liman's "Road House" tempers some of the customer violence, which helps ground the story a little more but equally makes these portions of the film much less memorable.

Gyllenhaal's Dalton is backed up by Road House owner Frankie (Jessica Williams, "Fantastic Beasts" films, "The Daily Show") and bar employee Billy (Lukas Gage, "The White Lotus"), who begin learning Dalton's tricks for dealing with rowdy patrons — but one local isn't keen on a Road House takeover.

Area crime boss Ben Brandt (Billy Magnussen, "No Time to Die") has deep pockets and tight connections and he will stop at nothing — including murder — to get rid of Dalton. Played with pompous charisma by Magnussen ("No Time to Die"), whose penchant for playing charismatic rich jerks is unrivaled (see "Ingrid Goes West"), Brandt's electric presence is one of the film's many delights. Not to forget another of the film's villains who nearly steals the show: the unexpectedly fun hulking Irish assassin Knox, played by UFC champ Conor McGregor. Any time Knox is in a scene, the over-the-top action locks in perfectly. "Road House" marks the 35 year-old boxer's film debut and his swaggering performance hints that he could have a future film career.

One element that didn't work in the original film — the romance between Dalton (Swayze) and "Doc" (Kelly Lynch) also falls flat here, unfortunately. In both films, Dalton and Doc engage in a type of instalove, where the audience isn't privy to too much of the couple getting to know each other and growing closer. But it becomes more of a problem in the 2024 version, as female lead Daniela Melchior ("Fast X," "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3") delivers a slightly unexpressive and serious performance.

While there are a few improvements to Doc's backstory in the script — and Doc is given a lot more to do — Melchior seems ill-equipped to make the already abbreviated romance even slightly believable. It's not entirely upon her shoulders, however. Gyllenhaal's cheekiness is misplaced next to Melchior's grounded stoicism and the two often feel like they're in different movies.

This unconvincing romance, however, is perhaps the sole element that really doesn't work with the story's tonal shift. To Liman and the screenwriters' credit, the shift from cartoonish action to drama-with-moments-of-heightened-action feels modern and fresh without completely eschewing the spirit of the original film. Those behind this film clearly have affection for the original but it's not the religious devotion to source material that has killed too many remakes to count.

All of this isn't to say that the new "Road House" is a "serious" movie. It's not. It's fun and well-made and there's definitely a case to be made that it would have done well in theaters — especially considering March has been pretty spare on new releases. While "Road House" wouldn't have dethroned "Dune: Part Two," it very easily could have been a solid second-place hit for the current post-awards season/pre-summer blockbuster cinemascape.

The movie's theatrical potential remains a source of contention among its director, who in January said he would boycott its premiere at SXSW after claiming Amazon chose to place it on streaming instead of on the big screen. Despite contrary reports, including Gyllenhaal himself saying "Amazon was always clear it was streaming," Liman ultimately attended SXSW in Austin last week, though he didn't participate in the film's panel.

With a runtime of just 2 hours, "Road House" is a breezy watch and its soft R-rating for language and violence also means it could be a good family-with-older-kids movie night pick. While the new "Road House" isn't a remake in the vein of Luca Guadagnino's subversive and beautiful "Suspiria," which is very nearly a completely different film, it's a worthwhile reinvention that works.

Oh, also, almost forgot to mention: Post Malone is in this.

Yes, that Post Malone.

"Road House" (2024) premieres on Prime Video Thursday, March 21. And in case you're wanting to do a comparison watch, "Road House" (1989) is currently streamable with Prime Video, Max and Showtime subscriptions.

In a video posted to Schneider's YouTube channel, the former producer said the series was "embarrassing," and that he owed some people "a pretty strong apology."

Schneider, who produced shows such as "Drake and Josh," "iCarly," and "The Amanda Show," came under fire in 2022 following a report from Business Insider, which spoke with former cast, writers, and others who worked with Schneider during his days at the network.

Those interviewed in the new series, which further details the allegations made in the Business Insider article, alleged Schneider played favorites, put young actresses in overly sexually suggestive scenes, and made inappropriate comments to and about women on the crew, including an incident where he asked them to massage him.

“It was wrong that I ever put anybody in that position," Schneider said when talking about the massages. “I apologize to anybody that I ever put in that situation."

In the "Quiet on Set" series, actor Drake Bell also came forward as the John Doe in a child sex abuse case against dialogue coach Brian Peck. Peck and Bell both worked on the Nickelodeon shows "All That" and "The Amanda Show" before Peck's arrest in 2003.

At the time of his arrest, the Los Angeles Police Department said 43-year-old Peck was accused of molesting a child he was coaching at his house over a six-month period. We now know the unnamed child was Drake Bell, who was then 15 years old.

Peck served a 16-month prison sentence and was forced to register as a sex offender. After his release, he returned to entertainment work, including on shows with child actors, like the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."

Schneider said hearing Bell's story "devastated" him. A spokesperson for Schneider, in an email to NBC News, called him a "champion" for child actors.

“Dan has said himself that he was a tough boss to work for and, if he could do things over again, he would act differently,” a spokesperson for Schneider said. “But let’s be clear, when Dan departed Nickelodeon, a full investigation was done and again, all that was found is that he was a challenging, tough and demanding person to work for and with, nothing else.”

Schneider left the network in 2018, according to BBC, after an investigation found he was verbally abusive to employees.

A Nickelodeon spokesperson told NBC News, “Though we cannot corroborate or negate allegations of behaviors from productions decades ago, Nickelodeon as a matter of policy investigates all formal complaints as part of our commitment to fostering a safe and professional workplace environment free of harassment or other kinds of inappropriate conduct. Our highest priorities are the well-being and best interests not just of our employees, casts and crew, but of all children, and we have adopted numerous safeguards over the years to help ensure we are living up to our own high standards and the expectations of our audience.”

Schneider said any inappropriate jokes should be cut out of the shows he worked on but stood behind his previous statement saying the network approved the shows' content, including any potentially suggestive scenes that made it into aired episodes.

The children's classic "Harold and the Purple Crayon" is headed to the big screen.

Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Tanya Reynolds and Zooey Deschanel star in the first animated/ live-action film adaptation of the 1955 picture book illustrated by Crockett Johnson, which follows a 4-year-old boy named Harold whose magical purple crayon allows him to draw his dreams into reality.

Sony Pictures Entertainment released the movie's trailer on Wednesday morning.

"When someone tells a story, they create an entire world," the narrator explains as the camera pans over Harold's animations and a small statue of the fictional character.

"But there are legends of characters so real, that they step right into this world."

Now Harold is all grown up and played by Levi, who "draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world," according to the movie's description.

Chaos ensues when he uses that magical purple crayon in adulthood. Things take a turn when "the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands."

It's then up to Harold and "his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own."

The project is directed by Carlos Saldanha and produced by John Davis.

"Harold and the Purple Crown" hits theaters in August 2024.

"It’s #HaroldAndThePurpleCrayon trailer day, everybody!" posted Levi to X, formerly Twitter. "This August, there’s gonna be a #PurpleReign!"

In a lengthy post to the social media site on Tuesday, Simmons explained that he noticed a "strange-looking bump" under his right eye.

"I had a tube of Neosporin which I would put on in the morning and the evening….it was still there. It was time to call my dermatologist," he wrote.

He then detailed his visit, where his doctor examined the area and performed a biopsy, which prompted Simmons to get "a little bit nervous."

"He comes back about 20 minutes later and says the 'C' word. 'You have cancer.' I asked him what kind of cancer and he said Basal Cell Carcinoma," he explained.

"I told him to stop calling me dirty names. He laughed."

Simmons' doctor urged him to see a skin cancer specialist.

He then booked an appointment with Encino-based dermatologist Dr. Ralph A. Massey

"I waited in his waiting room and said hello to all of these people who had skin cancer as well," Simmons detailed. "I was shocked to see all of the skin cancers that they had. Some had cancer on top of their heads…their face …and their neck."

Simmons then detailed his visit with Dr. Massey.

"The nurse said, 'Dr. would like to see you now Richard,' I slowly walked in this pristine room and Dr. Massey came in to greet me…'I have to apologize I just finished eating lox, bagels, and onions.' He smelled like a deli. But I didn’t care I just needed his help."

The so-called Weight Saint said that Dr. Massey had to "burn" his skin to "remove the cancer cells."

"There was no numbing it just had to be done with a small instrument. As he started burning my skin a tear dropped down my cheek," Simmons recounted. "You can’t cry during this and he wiped my tear."

"The burning really hurt my skin. It lasted about 30 minutes."

The 75-year-old was advised by his dermatologist to return in 90 minutes to see if he "got it all out."

"After driving around the city, I went back to some sad news," he revealed. "I didn’t get it all out. He burned my face again. This time was worse than before...It was deeper. I did not cry this time but I did grit my teeth."

It's unclear at this point if Simmons is cancer-free currently.

He finished his post by saying that his doctor asked him to return in another 90 minutes, but ended it saying "to be continued."

"Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer and the most frequently occurring form of all cancers. In the U.S. alone, an estimated 3.6 million cases are diagnosed each year," according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. "Because BCCs grow slowly, most are curable and cause minimal damage when caught and treated early."

Simmons' post about his diagnosis came a day after he worried fans that he was dying.

He wrote:  “I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad. I am … dying. Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death.”

He later clarified that the message was to urge fans to live their lives "to the fullest" while living healthy lifestyles.

The musician, whose real name was Matthew Urango, died Sunday, according to his label.

Urango was born with spina bifida, kyphosis and scoliosis, disabilities that affected his spine and hindered his movement. He used his platform as a successful independent musician to raise awareness about other artists with disabilities and advocate for progressive causes.

Urango was multiracial, with Scottish and Portuguese ancestry on his mother's side and Chumash, Mexican and African American on his father's, according to a profile in tmrw magazine. He had a twin brother who was not disabled.

The self-taught singer and musician had a unique sound that was as diverse as his upbringing, with his label describing his genre as a mixture of hip hop and disco, guided by "the spirit of punk with Latino grooves."

Record Makers, which released several of his albums, announced his passing on social media.

"He was quite a soul, a man with no age, a childlike spirit with the musicality of an old legend," the label wrote on X, previously Twitter. "His lyrics, his melodies, the sound of his voice: every side of his music was unique and timeless..."

He collaborated with other musicians in the independent music scene, including MGMT and the seminal electronic group The Avalanches, who said of Urango, "Matthew was the most effervescent hilarious talented and passionate guy you could ever meet. He was a man of his convictions and of his word."

Members of his family told TMZ that they believed his death was related to the health issues he'd battled since birth.

Tributes to the artist poured in on social media, with fans and collaborators sharing stories about his character and the impact of the one-and-only "disabled disco innovator."

ABC News reported that the San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to a call for medical aid at about 1:30 p.m. Monday. When deputies arrived, paramedics were already attempting lifesaving measures on Houghton, according to the outlet.

Houghton was reported dead in San Marcos in northern San Diego County, TMZ reported. The exact circumstances of her death are unclear. Nexstar's KSWB has reached out to San Diego County officials for additional details.

In a post on her Instagram, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star paid tribute to her sister.

"My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time," Jenner wrote. "Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny. She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter."

Houghton was 65, three years younger than Jenner, who is 68, according to TMZ.

"Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you my beautiful sister," Jenner's post continued.

Betting odds released Tuesday by Bookies.com, a sports betting news and resource website, show that the odds of getting a perfect bracket using your basketball knowledge are worse than being eaten by a shark or winning either the Powerball or Mega Millions lotteries.

The odds of getting a perfect bracket using your intuition are 120.1 billion to 1, the website claims. Winning either of the big ticket lottery games has odds around 300 million to 1 — much, much, much better odds, albeit still extremely unlikely.

The website cites Georgia Tech professor Joel Sokol and the NCAA for the detailed breakdown of the perfect bracket odds.

According to Sokol, most college basketball models predict the correct winner about 75% of the time. Based on that data, the odds of getting all 63 correct fall somewhere between 1 in 10 billion to 1 in 40 billion.

But NCAA data compiled by tracking the last five years of the official Bracket Challenge Game reveals sports fans pick correctly only about two-thirds of the time, bringing those odds down to the 1 in 120.2 billion figure.

To make those odds even longer, if you were to let a coin flip decide each of your picks, you're creating odds on par with a celestial event.

Dr. Dre was given some "California Love" as he was honored with the 2,775th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Compton native — real name Andre Young — received the star in the Recording category.

Artists like Eminem, Xzibit, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg were in attendance, as well as music impresario Jimmy Iovine, with whom Dre founded the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy at USC, which focuses on entrepreneurship.

"I'd like to thank the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce who felt that I was finally ready to walk in the footsteps of Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. All of whom got stars before me for some f—g reason," he laughed. "Don't trip, I'm not bitter. It's all good, I'm here now."

Jokes aside, the producer and rapper gushed about being memorialized on the iconic star-studded strip as it's an "incredible tribute" to his artistry.

"Growing up in Compton, I never imagined that I would one day be represented here among some of my childhood heroes," he said.

Dr. Dre is a nine-time Grammy award-winning artist and producer. He co-founded Death Row Records and later became the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics.

He credited his success to staying focused on his passion, which allowed him to be an integral part of hip-hop and rap history.

"I've been fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love to do," he told the crowd. "Isn't that the dream?"

He began his career with the hip-hop group N.W.A. in the mid-to-late '80s as a producer alongside Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella. The group was a main pillar in the rise of the gangsta rap genre.

In 1992, he debuted his solo album "The Chronic," which achieved triple platinum within a year of its release. It ended up making him one of the top 10 best-selling American performing artists of 1993 and won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance for the song "Let Me Ride." It also featured hits like "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" and "B— Ain't S—."

Beyond his own work, Dr. Dre is credited with finding, producing and working with some of the best talent in the industry. He helped jumpstart the careers of Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, the Game and Eminem, who in turn brought 50 Cent to Dre's attention.

"I'm incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years, most of us have grown up together. At nearly 60 years old, you're still rocking with me and I really appreciate that, which is really good because I'm nowhere near done," he explained.

"You better believe there's a lot more coming."

Dre's star is located on 6840 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the Jimmy Kimmel Studios.

The singer released the cover art to her upcoming album "Cowboy Carter," 10 days before its release.

In a lengthy message posted on Instagram, the singer thanked fans for their support and revealed her motivation behind the project.

"I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart. That would not have happened without the outpouring of support from each and every one of you," she gushed.

Last month, Billboard announced the Houston, Texas native’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” debuted on the Hot Country Songs chart at no. 1, with “16 Carriages” also charting at no. 9.

From this, she hopes that "years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant."

Queen Bey revealed the album was "five years in the making" and it was "born out of an experience" she had years ago where she "did not feel welcomed."

"It was very clear that I wasn’t," she said. "But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history."

Many will remember the backlash the singer received when she performed her song "Daddy Lessons" with The Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, at the Country Music Awards in 2016.

"The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me," she continued. "Act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work."

The Beyhive's senses went into overdrive when the "Alien Superstar" revealed that she has "a few surprises on the album" and has "collaborated with some brilliant artists" whom she deeply respects.

"I hope that you can hear my heart and soul, and all the love and passion that I poured into every detail and every sound," she said.

"Cowboy Carter" is the "continuation of Renaissance," she explained.

In July 2022, she dropped the dance music album, "Renaissace" act i, which honored the Black and Brown LGBTQ+ pioneers.

"I hope this music is an experience, creating another journey where you can close your eyes, start from the beginning and never stop," she said about her upcoming project.

She also reminded her fans and followers of this one thing: "This ain’t a Country album. This is a 'Beyoncé' album."

"This is act ii 'Cowboy Carter,' and I am proud to share it with y’all!"

After the post, fans posted numerous bee emojis in the comment section of the CMA's Instagram account in support of Beyoncé.

"We will never forget," commented one fan amid the emoji.

"This ain't Texas," another wrote.

"Count your days," another posted in the comments.

In July, a Western Washington University geology professor and seismologist found the singer's shows in Seattle were on par with a 2.3 magnitude earthquake.

But that wouldn't be the last time.

A group of scientists at Caltech and UCLA researched the seismic activity at the "Karma" singer's Aug. 5 show at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium for their article "Shake to the Beat: Exploring the Seismic Signals and Stadium Response of Concerts and Music Fans."

On that evening, Swift performed in front of about 70,000 people.

"Signals were recorded on regional seismic network stations located within 9 km (about 5.59 miles) of the stadium, as well as on strong‐motion sensors placed near and inside the stadium prior to the concert series," the publication stated.

From there, they tied the signals with individual songs and checked out the "nature of the seismic source."

The team used spectrograms, graphs that display the "strength of various signal frequencies over time."

“For earthquakes, most of the time they’re pretty sharp and easy to identify with waveforms, but when you have something like volcanoes where you have such a wide variety of signals, spectrograms can be really handy in helping to identify the different types of signals,” Gabrielle Tepp of Caltech explained.

The research of the SoFi show showed that each Swift song "had a distinctive tremor signal."

"Researchers were able to identify 43 of the 45 songs played within the recorded spectrograms."

From there, they calculated the "radiated energy of each song" and then converted it into "the local magnitude of an earthquake that would have radiated that same energy."

The song with the largest local magnitude was Swift's hit "Shake It Off," which clocked in at 0.851.

“Keep in mind this energy was released over a few minutes compared to a second for an earthquake of that size. Based on the maximum strength of shaking, the strongest tremor was equivalent to a magnitude -2 earthquake,” Tepp said.

After some debate, the team concluded that it was the "dancing and jumping motions of the audience at SoFi Stadium—not the musical beats or reverberations of the sound system—that generated the concert’s distinct harmonic tremors."

Researchers then compared Swift's show to that of Metallica's at SoFi. The heavy metal band performed on Aug. 25 and Aug. 27 at the stadium.

The band “had the weakest signals in terms of the strongest magnitude from each concert,” Tepp said.

“Metal fans like to headbang a lot, so they’re not necessarily bouncing,” Tepp added. “It might just be that the ways in which they move don’t create as strong of a signal.”

This study was published March 13, 2024.

It's the question at the center of Apple TV+'s latest comedy, "Palm Royale," which premieres on the platform March 20. As social climber Maxine Simmons, Kristin Wiig leads a large cast of star talent in this 10-episode period piece created by Abe Sylvia, writer of 2021's "The Eyes of Tammy Faye."

Fresh from Tennessee, plucky Maxine is on a mission to become somebody in the Florida social mecca — and her plan begins with infiltrating the ultra-exclusive Palm Royale country club and befriending its members.

Filling out the glamorous tapestry are socialites Evelyn Rollins (Allison Janney) and Dinah Donohue (Leslie Bibb), local women's rights activist Linda (Laura Dern), and club bartender/houseboy Robert (Ricky Martin). Then there's Norma Dellacorte (Carol Burnett), Maxine's comatose aunt-in-law and one of Palm Beach's top matriarchs — she'll be Maxine's ticket into the upper echelon, if she stays quiet.

But as Maxine delves deeper into Palm Beach high society, she learns that the higher you rise, the bigger your secrets become.

Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel's 2018 novel "Mr. and Mrs. American Pie," the series is likely to please fans of "The Real Housewives" franchises and Ryan Murphy's "Feud." But Sylvia's writing aims to be more than the champagne-soaked soap opera early images might suggest.

Set during the social upheaval of 1969, "Palm Royale" finds its characters at the intersection of the Vietnam War, the women's rights movement and the gay liberation. In Linda (Dern), Maxine finds an unlikely friend and foil and some of the series' best moments are scenes shared between the two women who are fighting for better lives in different ways.

Viewers will enjoy going along Maxine's journey, as she resorts to increasingly desperate tactics to keep up her facade. Among Maxine's biggest problems is sinister socialite Evelyn, who Academy Award winner Janney imbues with fabulous fire. With Norma currently out of the running for top lady in Palm Beach, Evelyn, wife of war profiteer Skeet Rollins (Bruce Dern), hopes to become the new top dog in town.

One of the true joys of the series is the marvel that is Kristen Wiig. As Maxine, the "Saturday Night Live" legend is effervescent but grounded, ruthless but worth rooting for. Wiig's impeccable balance of whimsy and depth helps "Palm Royale" refocus itself during some shaggier moments.

Though there's something to love in every episode of "Palm Royale," its 10-episode run takes some circuitous plot journeys that ultimately let out too much of the pressure. Though Maxine's circumstances continue snowballing, this tension often falls flat as we're too often checking in on other characters or side plots. As enjoyable as "Palm Royale" is, it's hard not to feel that it would have been more effective in 6-8 episodes, or as a film.

Despite sometimes testing viewer patience, "Palm Royale" is a worthwhile watch, especially for those of us ready for warm summer months by the pool. You'll come for the actresses in caftans but you'll stay for the heart Wiig, Dern, Martin and company bring along with the soap.

The first three episodes of "Palm Royale" arrive on Apple TV+ on March 20, then episodes air weekly though May 8.

On Tuesday, the streamer announced "Receiver," an eight-episode series that will follow the Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

“We were thrilled last summer to see audiences all over the world diving into the lives of NFL quarterbacks,” NFL Films supervising producer Joe Zucco tells Netflix. “We believe the extraordinary skills, dedication, and passion of the NFL’s great wide receivers — and one tight end — will make a perfect follow-up.”

Peyton Manning serves as an executive producer alongside Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Pat Kelleher, Keith Cossrow, Patrick Mahomes and Jacquelyn Dahl.

The ban applies to over 100 athletic facilities in New York City's Long Island suburbs. Speaking alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman at his office in Mineola, Jenner said allowing transgender athletes like herself to compete against other women will “ruin women’s sports” for years to come.

“Let’s stop it now while we can,” said the reality television star, who came out as a transgender woman in 2015.

The LGBT Network, a Long Island-based advocacy group, called Jenner’s comments a “baffling contradiction” to her own identity as a transgender woman that is “not only hypocritical but also harmful" to the LGBTQ community.

“It is disheartening to witness someone who has experienced the challenges of being marginalized actively contribute to the oppression of others within the same community,” David Kilmnick, the group’s president, said in a statement. “Such actions only serve to amplify the voices of intolerance and detract from the collective efforts towards a more inclusive society."

Blakeman, a Republican elected in 2021, issued an executive order in February requiring any teams, leagues or organizations seeking a permit from the county’s parks and recreation department to “expressly designate” whether they are for male, female or coed athletes.

Any teams designated as “female” would be denied permits if they allow transgender athletes to participate.

The ban doesn’t apply to men’s teams with transgender athletes. It covers all Nassau County-owned facilities, including ballfields, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools and ice rinks.

Jenner, 74, competed against men when she won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon in 1976. She said she has “sympathy” for LGBTQ people and “understands their struggles” but argued that allowing transgender people to compete with women would undermine gains female athletes achieved under Title IX, a law banning sex discrimination in programs that receive federal funds.

“All I’m trying to do is protect women,” Jenner said Monday.

Jenner, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been a vocal opponent of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports. A New York native, she has long lived in the Los Angeles area and ran unsuccessfully for California governor as a Republican in 2021.

Blakeman has argued the ban is intended to both foster fair play and protect girls and women from getting injured if they play against transgender women. His executive order, however, also covers sports like swimming, gymnastics, figure skating and track, where there is no physical contact between competitors.

The executive order also takes decisions about who can play out of the hands of leagues and gives it to the government.

The Long Island Roller Rebels, a local women’s roller derby league, asked a New York court to invalidate the county order, saying it violates the state’s anti-discrimination laws.

The New York Civil Liberties Union, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of the league, called Jenner's appearance “another disgraceful attempt” to target and villainize transgender women and girls. Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, said Blakeman's order is “transphobic and discriminatory” and violates state law.

Blakeman has filed his own lawsuit asking a federal court in New York to affirm that the order was legal.

The order is part of a growing number of anti-transgender athletic restrictions imposed nationwide. Bills banning trans youth from participating in sports have passed in some 24 states, though some have been blocked by ongoing litigation.
