While there is still a chance for some thunderstorms in our mountain areas on Tuesday, the rest of Southern California is already watching for possible weekend showers.

Most of the region will enjoy mostly sunny skies today, with even better conditions and above-average temperatures on tap for Wednesday and Thursday.

But things begin to change later in the week.

“Friday it looks like an area of low pressure will slide down … Saturday we increase the clouds and bring the chance of some rain,” KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

The exact timing and best rain chances are still “very much in question,” according to the National Weather Service.

However, “nearly all ensembles keep amounts on the light side–less than a quarter of an inch in most areas,” the Weather Service said.

More precise information should come in the next couple of days, when forecasters say they will get a better handle “on this complex pattern.”

The unstable conditions are expected to continue through Monday before we get back to calmer weather next week, Henry said.
